This aspect of my journey has lead me back to school.

In its early stages, I found myself making smoothies for Elora. At the time, she was 2 and I thought I was starting her day off right with soy milk based fruit smoothies. While researching different smoothie recipes, I came across a community that not only educated me that soy was NOT healthy, but several other food choices that I had been making were not healthy for anyone!

I began following several blogs to educate myself on nutrition, but not “modern” nutrition…”traditional” nutrition. You know, how your grandmothers and their mothers cooked and prepared food. I was making healthy smoothies for Elora with whole fat non-homogenized milk from grass-fed cows. I am making bone broth that simmers on the stove for 72 hours, soaking oatmeal overnight and making my own almond milk. And I am LOVING it!

I was hungry for more information and more recipes! One of the bloggers I follow posted that she had graduated from Nutritional Therapy Association and was going to be an NTP. I started researching what the heck was an NTP?! Nutritional Therapy Practitioner! Healing through food, brilliant! Not only could I get more information on nutrition, but I could help others as well! And thus, this part of my journey began. I am 3/4 of the way through the program and can’t wait to share all that I am learning with clients and here on this site!

In this section, I will share information the importance of the types of foods that you consume, the source they are coming from, and how they are prepared. I will also give overviews of some of the body systems and how they process foods to nourish our bodies.
